The ingredients and how they work differ. Rather than dissolving dead skin cells with AHA or BHA alone, LaLa Peel is based on LHA, and in addition to LaLa Peel, Grays Dermatology also offers a Jessner peel. Which peel suits you depends on skin type, acne condition, and barrier condition, and is chosen after consultation.

It is used for caring for acne-prone skin by refining dead skin cells, sebum, and comedones. However, when inflammation is severe or nodular acne is present, a peel alone is not enough, and laser or medication may be needed alongside. Depending on your acne condition, the combination may also be set within the Acne Treatment Program.

You may feel stinging or a burning sensation while the peeling solution is on, and it is usually performed without anesthesia. How much you feel varies by skin condition and individual. If discomfort is significant, tell us during the peel and we will adjust based on your skin's response.

Depending on skin condition, temporary redness, dryness, or fine flaking may occur after the peel. How to cleanse, apply makeup, and care for your skin on the day and in the days that follow is advised at your visit based on your skin's response. If you have an important event coming up, please let us know in advance.

It is often performed over several sessions while monitoring skin condition, rather than as a single treatment. Intervals and the number of sessions depend on acne and flaking condition and your response to the peel, and are advised after consultation. The pace of response varies by individual.

Wash gently without rubbing and moisturize well. Even if flaking occurs, do not peel it off by force, and avoid scrubs or exfoliating products for the period we advise. Skin after a peel can be sensitive to UV, so apply sunscreen of SPF30 or higher daily.

If there is a wound or infection in the treatment area, you have recently had strong UV exposure or tanned, or your skin is sensitive from another recent peel or laser, we adjust the timing. If you are taking oral acne medication (isotretinoin-type) or have ever had a hypersensitivity reaction to salicylic acid-type ingredients, be sure to tell us at your visit.
